Bluetooth

Why does my iFusion play music and other audio but not my iPhone phone calls?

The iFusion Bluetooth connection consists of two profiles; one for music and sounds, the other for phone calls. You must re-set your Bluetooth connection to restore iPhone – iFusion voice connections:

1. On your iPhone, choose Settings > General > Bluetooth.
2. In the Bluetooth device list, tap the blue right arrow beside iFusion xxxxxxx.
3. Tap Forget this Device.
4. Turn off your iPhone (hold the power button down, then move the slider to the right).
5. Unplug the iFusion.
6. Wait 10 seconds, and then plug in the iFusion.
7. Turn on your iPhone.
8. Pair your iPhone with the iFusion again.

After you complete this process, the Bluetooth button should glow solid and the iFusion should appear in the iPhone Bluetooth device list.

Why can’t I get the iPhone to connect to iFusion via Bluetooth?

On the iPhone, check Settings > General > Bluetooth to ensure that the iFusion Station is listed as a device. If iFusion is listed but shows as Not Connected, tap the iFusion entry in the device list to connect.

If iFusion is not listed as a device, press and hold the iFusion Station Bluetooth button until it beeps and flashes. After a few seconds, the iFusion Station should be listed on the iPhone. Tap the iFusion entry on the iPhone; the two devices should connect.

Why does my phone show the message "Connection Unsuccessful?"

Go through the pairing process again, to pair this iPhone with the iFusion.

Why is the Bluetooth button blinking slowly?

The iFusion is in Discovery mode and is scanning for other Bluetooth devices nearby that it has previously connected to.

When you press the Bluetooth button on the iFusion, you will hear two short beeps and the Bluetooth button will blink rapidly while the iFusion looks for devices to connect to. The iFusion will appear on the device list on the iPhone, and when you press iFusion xxxxxx on the device list, the iPhone and iFusion will connect.

Why is the Bluetooth button blinking rapidly?

The iFusion is in Pairing mode and is ready to connect to an iPhone. On the iPhone, go to Settings > General > Bluetooth, look for the iFusion device, then press it to connect the two devices.

Why is the Bluetooth button on?

The iFusion is in Connected mode and is currently connected via Bluetooth to an iPhone.

Note: Each iFusion can be Bluetooth-connected to only one iPhone at a time.

Why is the Bluetooth light off?

The iFusion does not have power. Make sure it is plugged in correctly.

Why is the Bluetooth button glowing red?

If the iFusion Bluetooth button has a steady red light, the Bluetooth connection may have been lost. Turn off the iFusion, wait a few moments, and then turn it back on.

Why do I not hear the person on the other end, through the speaker or the handset?

The iFusion might not be Bluetooth connected to the iPhone (see the User Guide for setup instructions).

The Mute feature may be enabled (a red light will glow on the Mute button). If this is the case, unmute the call by pressing the Mute button.

Why can’t I make or receive calls via the iFusion?

Remove the iPhone from the iFusion dock and place the call manually. If calls do not go through when the iPhone is not docked, refer to Apple.com for iPhone troubleshooting tips.

How far can the iPhone be from the iFusion and still get a Bluetooth connection?

The iFusion Bluetooth connection is supported up to approximately 10 meters (33 feet).

Walls and other objects may interfere with the Bluetooth signal and shorten this distance. Direct line of sight between iFusion and iPhone will increase the distance of the Bluetooth connection.

Volume

Why do the Volume buttons have no effect?

Check the volume setting on both the iPhone and the iFusion. The volume must be turned up on both devices for the music or voice on the iFusion to be heard. Ensure you are adjusting the correct volume on the iFusion as the volume buttons adjust only the current sound level.

There are four separate volume settings:

  • Ringer - If a call is coming in (or if the iFusion is idle), the Volume buttons adjust the sound level of the iFusion ringer
  • Speaker - If you are on a call through the speaker, the Volume buttons adjust the sound level of the speaker.
  • Handset - If you are on a call on the handset, the Volume buttons adjust the sound level of the handset.
  • Music - If you are playing music, the Volume buttons adjust the sound level of the music. Note: be sure to also adjust the volume on the external speakers if used.

Why is the Volume button blinking?

The blinking light indicates that the maximum or minimum volume has been reached.

Why is the hands-free light on while music is playing?

The hands-free light, whether on or off, has no effect on iPhone music playing over the speaker.

FaceTime

Why is FaceTime not working?

Make sure that both parties are using iPhone version 4 models, both are using a Wi-Fi connection, both are running IOS 4.2 or above, and that both have iPhone Settings > Phone > FaceTime set to On.

Ensure the IOS on both iPhones is version 4.2 or above.

The Hands-Free Speakerphone

Outgoing calls in undocked mode do not activate the iFusion. While your iPhone is undocked, you must first press the Speakerphone button before you place a call.

The iFusion Buttons

Why is the light on the Mute button red?

The mute feature is enabled and the other party will not be able to hear the conversation. Press the Mute button again to un-mute.

Check the volume settings on the iFusion while a voicemail message is playing.

Check Voicemail directly from your iPhone to verify functionality without iFusion. If this works, verify the Bluetooth connection between this iPhone and the iFusion (see the Bluetooth configuration information in the user manual).

Voice memo

Why does my iPhone 3GS not play voice memo back through the iFusion?

Voice memo playback does not work over Bluetooth with iPhone version 3GS. It also does not work over a Bluetooth headset.

Voice memo playback works on iPhone 3G and iPhone 4. You cannot record Voice memo on the iPhone with the iFusion, you can only play back voice memos.

Voice dialing

Why can’t I do Voice Activated dialing on the iPhone 3G with the iFusion?

Remove the iPhone from the iFusion and connect the iPhone directly to the computer via USB. Make sure that the iPhone works correctly without the iFusion.

If the iPhone works correctly without the iFusion, try to re-connect the iFusion to the computer via a mini-USB cable and place the iPhone back into iFusion dock.

Charging the iPhone

Why does my iPhone not charge when it is docked in the iFusion?

Remove the iPhone and re-dock it in the iFusion verifying that the iPhone is fully docked. Check to see if the lightning bolt icon appears on your iPhone. If this charging indicator does not appear, try connecting the iPhone directly to a wall outlet using the power cord that came with the iPhone to verify iPhone charging.

If you are using an iPhone case remove it and dock with the iFusion to see if charging occurs. Make sure the iPhone case is not interfering with docking in the iFusion.

If you are using a USB cable connected to a PC or Mac, the iFusion charging circuit is not used. Remove the USB cable from the iFusion to determine if charging resumes. If it does, this may indicate that the USB cable or system it is connected to is out of spec.

Dock a different iPhone into the iFusion. If it also does not charge and no USB cable is connected to the iFusion, you may have a problem with your iFusion.

The iPhone states "Charging not supported with this accessoryā€¯.

If you are using a USB cable connected to a PC or Mac, the iFusion charging circuit is not used. Remove the USB cable to determine if charging resumes. If it does, this may indicate that the USB cable or system it is connected to is out of spec.

iFusion and MaxMobile calls

Why can’t I answer an incoming MaxMobile call by pressing the Speaker button or lifting the handset?

When a MaxMobile call comes in to an iPhone that is connected to an iFusion Station, lifting the handset or pressing Speaker will not answer the call. This is due to various VoIP limitations.

When you get such a call, tap Answer on the iPhone to answer the call.
